Touching Life Story…

January 10th, 2009 by jeffgoh
A young man was getting ready to graduate college. For many months he had admired a beautiful sports car in a dealer’s showroom, and knowing his father could well afford it, he told him that was all he wanted.

As Graduation Day approached, the young man awaited signs that his father had purchased the car. Finally, on the morning  of his graduation his father called him into his private study. His father told him how proud he was to have such a fine son, and  told him how much he loved him. He handed his son a beautiful wrapped gift box.

Curious, but somewhat disappointed the young man opened the box and found a lovely, leather-bound Bible. Angrily,
he raised his voice at his father and said, “With all your money you give  me  a Bible?” and stormed out of the house, leaving the holy book.

Many years passed and the young man was very successful in business. He had a beautiful home and wonderful family, but realized his father was very old, and thought perhaps he should go to him. He had not seen him since that graduation day. Before he could make arrangements, he received a telegram telling him his father had passed away, and willed all of his possessions to his son. He needed to come home immediately and take care things. When he arrived at  his father’s house, sudden sadness and
regret filled his heart.

He began to search his father’s important papers and saw the still new Bible, just as he had left it years ago. With tears, he opened the Bible and began to turn the pages. As he read those words, a car key dropped from an envelope taped behind the Bible.
It had a tag with the dealer’s name, the same dealer who had the sports  car he had desired. On the tag was the date of his graduation, and the words…PAID IN FULL.

Moral of the Story..
How many times do we miss God’s blessings because they are not
packaged as we expected?

The Gift of Life

December 28th, 2008 by jeffgoh

On the very first day, God created the cow. He said to the cow, “Today I have created you! As a cow, you must go to the field with the farmer all day long. You will work all day under the sun! I will give you a life span of 50 years.”

The cow objected, “What? This kind of a tough life you want me to live for 50 years? Let me have 20 years, and the 30 years I’ll give back to you.” So God agreed.

On the second day, God created the dog. God said to the dog, “You are supposed to do is to sit all day by the door of your house. Any people that come in, you will have to bark at them! I’ll give a life span of 20 years.”

The dog objected, “What? All day long to sit by the door? No way! I give you back my other 10 years of life!” So God agreed.

On the third day, God created the monkey. He said to the monkey, “Monkeys have to entertain people. You’ve got to make them laugh and do monkey tricks. I’ll give you 20 years life span.”

The monkey objected. “What? Make them laugh? Do monkey faces and tricks? Ten years will do, and the other 10 years I’ll give you back.” So God agreed.

On the fourth day, God created man and said to him, “Your job is to sleep, eat, and play. You will enjoy very much in your life. All you need to do is to enjoy and do nothing. This kind of life, I’ll give you a 20 year life span.”

The man objected. “What? Such a good life! Eat, play, sleep, do nothing? Enjoy the best and you expect me to live only for 20 years? No way, man!….Why don’t we make a deal? Since the cow gave you back 30 years, and the dog gave you back 10 years and the monkey gave you back 10 years, I will take them from you! That makes my life span 70 years, right?” So God agreed.

AND THAT’S WHY…. In our first 20 years, we eat, sleep, play, enjoy the best and do nothing much. For the next 30 years, we work all day long, suffer and get to support the family. For the next 10 years, we entertain our grandchildren by making monkey faces and monkey tricks. And for the last 10 years, we stay at home, sit by the front door and bark at people!

Allow Your Own Inner Light to Guide You

December 21st, 2008 by jeffgoh
There comes a time when you must stand alone.

You must feel confident enough within yourself to follow your own dreams.

You must be willing to make sacrifices.

You must be capable of changing and rearranging your priorities so that your final goal can be achieved.

Sometimes, familiarity and comfort need to be challenged.

There are times when you must take a few extra chances and create your own realities.

Be strong enough to at least try to make your life better.

Be confident enough that you won’t settle for a compromise just to get by.

Appreciate yourself by allowing yourself the opportunities to grow, develop, and find your true sense of purpose in this life.

Don’t stand in someone else’s shadow when it’s your sunlight that should lead the way.

I’ll be there….

inspirational poems & poetry

If one day you feel like crying…
Call me.
I don’t promise that I will make you laugh,
But I can cry with you

If one day you want to run away–
Don’t be afraid to call me.
I don’t promise to ask you to stop…
But I can run with you

If one day you don’t want to listen
to anyone…
Call me.
I promise to be there for you.
And I promise to be very quiet.

But if one day you call…
And there is no answer…
Come fast to see me.
Perhaps I need you.

As I Walk Through Life ….

December 15th, 2008 by jeffgoh

I’ve learned-
that you can do something in an instant
that will give you heartache for life.

I’ve learned-
that you should always leave loved ones with loving words.
It may be the last time you see them.

I’ve learned-
that you can keep going long after you can’t.

I’ve learned-
that we are responsible for what we do,
no matter how we feel.

I’ve learned-
that either you control your attitude or it controls you.

I’ve learned-
that money is a lousy way of keeping score.

I’ve learned-
that my best friend and I can do anything
or nothing and have the best time.

I’ve learned-
that sometimes when I’m angry I have the right to be angry,
but that doesn’t give me the right to be cruel.

I’ve learned-
that just because someone doesn’t love you the
way you want them to doesn’t mean they
don’t love you with all they have.

I’ve learned-
that no matter how good a friend is,
they’re going to hurt you every once
in a while and you must forgive them for that.

I’ve learned-
that it isn’t always enough to be forgiven by others,
Sometimes you have to learn to forgive yourself.

I’ve learned-
that just because two people argue, it doesn’t
mean they don’t love each other.

I’ve learned-
that two people can look at the exact same thing
and see something totally different.

Well been quite some time since I last come in again so let’s see where shall I start off from..

It has been since a month since I was transfered to admin and so far, I still able to handle the work load especially those that was being left undone or the mess by the one before me. For now, my peak period is usually around the end of the month till the first week of the following month, after which I’m like nothing much to do.

Then as I’ve been used to working shift work, now when it comes to weekends I’m left with no programmes to do and just stay at home to rot away.

After spending so much money on my driving, I’ve finally pass my driving test and one more license attain. So what’s next for me to aim?

Anyway think shall stop for the time being and shall come in for updates again when I’m not that lazy.

The cost of Knowledge

July 5th, 2008 by jeffgoh

I was reading through this magazine when I come upon this article which I find it quite interesting and quite true. Hence shall post it up at here for all to share and ponder about it.

A man was driving through an uninhabited place when his car broke down. He found a mechanic at a nearby village. the mechanic examined the car and hit one part of the engine with his hammer. Immediately, the car started. The mechanic charged the man $100 for having the job done.

When asked why he was charging so much just for hitting a part with a hammer, he replied, "Very simple! I only charge $1 for hitting with a hammer, but $99 for knowing where to hit!"

Moral of the Story:
The value of knowledge cannot be underestimated. For the mechanic, he was able to charge a high price for applying the knowledge he has accumulated to good use.

Building in Progress

December 18th, 2007 by jeffgoh

At the site of Ground Zero in Lower Manhattan after the 11 September 2001, a man was walking past the plot of land covered in rubble when he saw three workmen.

"What are you doing?" he asked.
The first workman turned round and said:"Can’t you see? I’m shifting these stones!"
"Can’t you see? I’m earning wage!" said the second workman.
"Can’t you see?" said the third workman, "I’m rebuilding the Twin Towers!"

Moral of the Story
Although the three workmen were all engaged on the same task, only one had a sense of the real meaning of his work and his contributions. While we discharge our duties daily, how often have we thought of how our actions are contributing towards our company and the survival of our nation? It does not matter whether we are at which departments for as long as we remain committed to the company’s core business.

Brand new change

December 11th, 2007 by jeffgoh

Finally the day has come when my days at Woodlands are already history. Reason being I’ve been transferred to Airport. Gone may the days where the sight of cars been jammed for hours, motorcycles horning non stop, people queueing up till glass doors but that was the sight I’ve been facing for 2 years.

But whatever it is, one should always accept the new changes readily no matter he/she is ready anot. Same for me, its been a sudden change for me as its quite fast and sudden to see my name in the transfer list whereas my service is only 2 years plus as compare to those who had already serve the service for like many years and its still their first posting.

Yesterday been the first day at airport is not a good day to start off. Firstly been I had to miss 2 buses due to the buses being fully packed, hence had to take a cab there. Next is when the cab reached there, we’re totally lost over there as the place there is so big till we had to make so many turns till had to ask someone before able to get to the place but luckily the cab driver decided not to have the full fare instead but only a mere sum lesser.

Anyway I’ll still be in the same team like at Woodlands, and will be at terminal 2 arrival. Today will be my first night at there and hope I’m able to adjust to the new changes. Till then I shall stop at here.

Mixed feelings

November 16th, 2007 by jeffgoh

Well updates and more updates seems to be missing from here.

But now shall try to update as much as possible. For work wise, there’s alot of happenings. Firstly I’ve been assigned to be a mentor again to which to some extend it may be good and bad but whatever it is, I still have to go on with it and teach as much as I remember.

But that’s one thing which I’ll always teach them a favourite phase of mine which is; "anything you don’t know, don’t be a gan-ho and just feel free to call the ‘help desk’ for help". Reason being its alright to be sort of scolded abit rather than committed a mistake which will leave a black mark on yourself.

Next is that due to the opening of T3 next year, there’s alot of people being posted to airport in batches. To my surprise, currently over there they already have my name been posted there early next month but for my workplace still no news or memo yet hence meaning I may or may not be posted to there.

But I’m still thinking of to go or not to go as there’s pros and cons about it. But think whatever it is, I’ll just leave it to fate to decide when the time comes.

Beside work, been slightly busy too because I still need to oversee and run a annual camp in the school due to lack of manpower. Another reason is that as it’s already getting the end of the year hence we’ll need to work out next year workplan for the school with lots of changes.

Think shall stop here before I get abit of naggy again. As usual a quote for all to share.

"Nature is the greatest teacher and I learn from her best when others are asleep. In the still dark hours before sunrise God tells me of the plans I am to fulfill."
