Are You An Optimist or Pessimist?

Wednesday, June 20th, 2007
You Are a Realist
You don’t see the glass as half empty or half full. You see what’s exactly in the glass.
You never try to make a bad situation seem better than it is…
But you also never sabotage any good things you have going on.
You are brutally honest in your assessments of situations - and this always seems to help you cope.

Your Hidden Talent
You have the power to persuade and influence others.
You’re the type of person who can turn a whole room around.
The potential for great leadership is there, as long as you don’t abuse it.
Always remember, you have a lot more power over people than you might think!

Sitting on Your Talent

Friday, June 15th, 2007

There was a good piano player who played in a bar. People came just to hear him play. But one night, a patron told him he didn’t want to hear him play anymore, instead, he wanted him to sing a song. The man said, "I don’t sing."

But the customer was persistent. He told the bartender, "I’m tired of listening to the piano. I want that guy to sing!."

The bartender shouted across the room, "Hey buddy! If you want to get paid, sing a song. The patrons are asking you to sing!"

So he dis and sang a song. A piano player who had never sung in public did so for the very first time. And nobody had ever heard the song Mona Lisa sung the way it was sung that night by Nat King Cole!

He had the talent which he was sitting on! He may have lived the rest of his life as a no-name piano player in a no-name bar, but because he rose to the occasion, he went on to become one of the best known entertainers in America.

Moral of the Story:

All of us are performing our duties everyday within guidelines, SOPs and policies. There will always be situations when the standards are challenged and we would need to act and think out of the ordinary.

If we choose to remain in our comfort zone and continue to do what we are used to, it may hinder the development of our hidden talent. As long as we take responsibility and remain committed, we will be able to grow stronger everyday and overcome the challenges encountered.

Hence avoid sitting on your skills today. Exercise your creativity and take up the nest challenge coming your way!

Don’t Give Up

Thursday, June 7th, 2007

Been a long time since I last blogged hence tend to quite lazy to start again. As a result, do not know how to start hence shall just anyhow start of with a story to let you bloggers ponder about.

There was a museum laid with beautiful marble tiles, with a huge marble statue displayed in the middle of the lobby. Many people came from all over the world just to admire this beautiful marble statue. One night, the marble tiles started talking to the marble statue.

Marble tile:"Marble statue, it’s just not fair! Why does everybody from all over the world come all the way just to step on me while admiring you?"

Marble statue: "My dear friend, do you still remember that we were actually form the same cave?"

Marble tile:"Yes! That’s why I feel it is even more unfair. We were born from the same cave any yet we receive different treatment now. Not fair!" He cried again.

Marble statue: "Then, do you still remember the day when the designer tried to work on you. but you resisted the tools?"

Marble tile: "Yes, of course I remember. How can he use those tools on me, it hurts so badly."

Marble statue: "That’s right! He couldn’t work on you at all as you resisted being worked on."

Marble tile: "So???"

Marble statue: "When he decided to give up on you and started working on me instead, I knew at once that I would be something different after his efforts. I did not resist his tools, instead I bore all the painful tools he used on me…"

Marble tile: "Hmmmmmmm…"

Marble statue: "My friend, there is a price to everything in life. Since you decided to give up half way, you can’t blame anybody who steps on you now."

Moral of the Story:

Where there is no pain, there is no gain. While we’re doing our things may it be work, study etc, we face resistance, hardships, sacrifices and always seems to be at the bottom of the hill. But as long as we manage to endure the process, we’ll be soon find ourselves standing on the top of the hill looking down and admired by the others at the bottom.
