Building in Progress
At the site of Ground Zero in Lower Manhattan after the 11 September 2001, a man was walking past the plot of land covered in rubble when he saw three workmen.
"What are you doing?" he asked.
The first workman turned round and said:"Can’t you see? I’m shifting these stones!"
"Can’t you see? I’m earning wage!" said the second workman.
"Can’t you see?" said the third workman, "I’m rebuilding the Twin Towers!"
Moral of the Story
Although the three workmen were all engaged on the same task, only one had a sense of the real meaning of his work and his contributions. While we discharge our duties daily, how often have we thought of how our actions are contributing towards our company and the survival of our nation? It does not matter whether we are at which departments for as long as we remain committed to the company’s core business.
